About the South Burnett Region
The stunning South Burnett region is located about two hours drive north-west of Brisbane and immediately west of the Sunshine Coast. It stretches 120km from Blackbutt in the south to Kilkivan in the north, and 70km west to Lake Boondooma. Burnett Business Centre is located in two of the region’s centres: Kingaroy and Nanango.
Well-known as the heart of Australia’s peanut industry, the area has developed since the early 1990s to encompass Queensland’s second-largest wine region, boasting more than a dozen cellar doors and vineyards and stimulating tourism. It is also the home of the Tarong Power Station, the associated mine, as well as the various industries and retailers that support them.
